Consular Services
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT VISA
The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney does not entertain questions on visas or residency for Australia, and visas for other countries. Please contact the Australian Immigration or the relevant foreign embassy/consulates for these.
VISA ISSUANCE
A Philippine Visa is an endorsement made on a travel document by a consular officer at a Philippine Embassy or Consulate denoting that the visa application has been properly examined and that the bearer is permitted to proceed to the Philippines and request permission from the Philippine Immigration authorities at the ports of entry to enter the country.
The grant of a Philippine visa is, in effect, only a form of pre-entry clearance. A foreign national who has been granted a Philippine visa by the Embassy/Consulate is still subject to standard immigration control at the port of entry in the Philippines. The Philippine Immigration official at the port of entry will be the final authority to allow or deny admission into the country.

STANDARD PROCEDURE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING A TEMPORARY VISITOR'S VISA
The visa application requires the personal appearance of visa applicant. An applicant of minor age (younger than 18 years) must be accompanied by a parent or the legal guardian. Applications for infants (age two years and younger) can be lodged by a parent; the infant does not have to be brought to the Consulate.
Travel agents may lodge the visa application on behalf of the traveler. In such cases, the accomplished visa application form and passport photograph must be noted by a Justice of the Peace and the visa fee payment must be in the form of a postal money order. The travel agent must arrange for the collection of the traveler’s passport.
Requirements for the Temporary Visitor's Visa
- Visa Application Form. One (1) fully completed and signed application form. (Download Form)
- Original Passport. Original passport must be valid for six months beyond exit date.
- Passport type photo. One (1) passport type photo to be attached in the application form.
- Itinerary. Photocopy of return flight tickets/itinerary showing applicant’s name.
- Non Refundable Visa Fee. To be paid either in cash or postal money order payable to the “Philippine Consulate General in Sydney”.
- Other documents. The Consular officer may require additional documents to confirm certain circumstances relating to the applicant’s stay in the Philippines and/or depending on the purpose of the visit. (Bank Statement, Australian Visa, Invitation Letter, etc.)
If applying by mail, the accomplished visa application form and passport photograph must be noted by a Justice of the Peace, the visa fee payment must be in the form of a postal money order, and a self-addressed Express Post or Registered Post envelope must be provided to ensure the return of the applicant’s passport and other documents.
The application and supporting documents should be mailed to:
Philippine Consulate General in Sydney
Attention: Visa Section
Level 1, Philippine Centre
27-33 Wentworth Avenue
Sydney, NSW 2000
The Consulate is not responsible for any delay, loss or damage of the passport in the mail or while the documents are in the custody of the courier service.
Children below 15 years of age traveling to the Philippines unaccompanied by a parent must secure an Affidavit of Support and Consent from the Consulate. Upon arrival at the airport in the Philippines, the accompanying adult will submit this Affidavit to the immigration authorities and obtain a Waiver of Exclusion Ground (WEG). Fees will apply. (Affidavit of Support and Consent: AU$45.00 / WEG : AU$45.00)
Visitors wishing to stay beyond the authorized 59 days may apply for an Extension of Stay at any office of the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines before the 59 days run out. Visa extension fees will apply. Refer to the Bureau of immigration website for information about extending your stay in the Philippines.
VALIDITY OF THE VISA AND ALLOWED PERIOD OF STAY
The validity of the Temporary Visitor’s Visa indicates the amount of time that the visa holder must use the visa before it expires, and not the amount of time the holder is allowed to stay in the Philippines. For example, a holder of a Philippine single-entry Temporary Visitor’s Visa, which is valid for 3 months from the date of issue, must use the visa within that 3-month period; it does not mean that the visa-holder is allowed to stay in the Philippines for 3 months.
The initial length of stay for all holders of the Temporary Visitor's Visa is 59 days. Those wishing to stay more than 59 days must secure a visa extension with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration before the end of their initial allowed stay and pay the required fees. For more details on visa extensions, visit the Bureau of Immigration.
