 New Philippine Consul General Assumes in Sydney

(03 September 2019, Sydney) The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney announces that Consul General Ma. Theresa Taguiang ended her tour as Consul General in Sydney on 21 August 2019.

Mr. Ezzedin Tago assumed as Philippine Consul General on 22 August 2019.

Mr. Tago is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs. He started in 1995. He is proficient in Arabic.

Mr. Tago has served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Yemen (non-resident) from September 2011 to June 2016. Prior to that he also served as Consul General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Earlier in his career, he was also assigned to Baghdad, Iraq; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In the Home Office, Mr. Tago has served as Assistant Secretary for Human Resources Management (March 2017 to August 2019); Deputy Chief of Presidential Protocol (June 2016 to February 2017); Special Assistant to the Undersecretary for Special Concerns (2005-2007); and Director for Arab Gulf States with the Office of Middle East and African Affairs (1997-1999).

Mr. Tago is a recipient of several awards from the Office of the President and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
